This course gives the student an opportunity to correlate American
literature and American history. Thecourse also makes students aware
of how our national culture is a product of the contributions of other cultures. A major aspect of the course is vocabulary development; emphasis is also given to organization and precision in written and oral expression.

- Remember to imply whether you agree or disagree... DO NOT make a direct statement
• Body Paragraphs-

- TAG - Provide a brief summary of the scene you have selected
- Provide an extensive interpretation of the scene
- Discuss how the scene illustrates/supports you interpretation of the Critical Lens (make sure that this discussion includes
a literary element!)
- Transition sentence
• Conclusion-
- Restate the lens
- Summarize your main points
- Closing statement/ repeat your implied stance
